Aksay named Pomeroy and Betty Perry Smith Professor of Engineering

Professor Ilhan A. Aksay has been named the Pomeroy and Betty Perry Smith Professor of Engineering, effective July 1, 2017. Professor Aksay joined Princeton's chemical engineering faculty in 1992. He is the author of more than 380 articles in refereed journals. Prof. Aksay’s ceramic materials laboratory investigates materials manufacturing through the introduction of colloidal processing methods; the use of biologically inspired strategies for the synthesis of composite materials; and processes to produce functionalized graphene sheets (FGSs) in industrial quantities and demonstrating their utility for applications. Recent major honors include election to the U.S. National Academy of Inventors in 2014 and the U.S. National Academy of Engineering in 2010.
