Benziger Elected AIChE Fellow

July 5, 2012

Jay B. Benziger, Professor of Chemical and Biological Engineering, has been elected as a Fellow of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE), as approved by the AIChE Board of Directors at their June meeting.  As described in AIChE's Constitution and By-laws, election as Fellow—the highest grade of membership— “shall be recognition of professional attainment, and significant accomplishment in engineering.”  In 2008, a history of the AIChE Fellows program was written to coincide with the AIChE Centennial.  Benziger was recognized for his pioneering research in several areas, notably the reaction engineering of fuel cells, and for his leadership of the AIChE Central Jersey Section.  Benziger will be recognized for his significant achievement at this year’s AIChE Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh, at the Fellows Breakfast on October 30.
