News: Complex Materials and Processing

A team led by Rodney D. Priestley has demonstrated the formation of ultrastable glassy polymer films, as reported in the April issue of the journal Nature Materials.
A multi-institutional international research team led by Yueh-Lin (Lynn) Loo and Takao Someya of the University of Tokyo has created an organic transistor whose electronic characteristics are unchanged even after 20 sec of heating at 150°C, a temperature typically used to sterilize medical devices.
CBE graduate student Sheng Li and Professor Rick Register, studying materials synthesized by alumna Sasha Myers *08, have recently uncovered an unexpectedly broad range of nanoscale structures in polymers containing chemically dissimilar crystallizable blocks.
