Easy as an inkjet, a new soft printing technique has opened the way for pixelated elastics

Borrowing from inkjet printers, Princeton Engineering researchers have rolled out a pixel-by-pixel technique to program and print composite elastic materials. It could be used for applications in soft robotics to create octopus-inspired camouflage or in medical devices to sense fine detail in vulnerable spaces.

Molecular modeling expert Michael Webb has received a junior faculty award for excellence in research and teaching

The School of Engineering and Applied Science has honored molecular modeling expert Michael Webb for early-career excellence in research and teaching. He is one of six assistant professors to receive a junior faculty award this year. Each recipient will receive $50,000 to support their research.

Sujit Datta and Emily Davidson will co-lead a team receiving funding from the Schmidt Transformative Technology Fund. The project aims to reduce urban flooding by developing a new concrete-like material that absorbs rainwater and then releases it slowly back to the environment.
