Richard M. Felder *66, Hoechst Celanese Professor Emeritus Chemical Engineering at North Carolina State University, received the first Global Award for Excellence in Engineering Education from the International Federation of Engineering Education Societies (IFEES), at the 2010 World Engineering Education Forum held in Singapore in October. The award recognizes “outstanding and original contributions to engineering education through exemplary teaching, research, and/or leadership innovations.” Felder’s many accomplishments in engineering education include a diversity of teaching resources, and coauthoring Elementary Principles of Chemical Processes (now in its Third Edition), which has been use by over three-quarters of U.S. chemical engineering departments for their introductory course, and is currently used at Princeton as the text for CBE 245.
