Panagiotopoulos Elected to National Academy of Engineering

Professor Athanassios Panagiotopoulos has been elected to the National Academy of Engineering, "for the invention of the Gibbs ensemble method of molecular simulation of phase equilibrium and the development of computational techniques for studying complex fluids." Election to the National Academy is the highest form of professional recognition for an engineer. Panagiotopoulos, an internationally-renowned leader in the computational study of complex fluids, joined the Chemical Engineering department in 2000, from the University of Maryland.
