Thawani G3 Awarded Fellowship from American Heart Association

Third-year CBE doctoral student Akanksha Thawani has been awarded a two-year Predoctoral Fellowship from the American Heart Association (AHA) Research Committee, in support of her Ph.D. research on “Mechanism of mitotic spindle formation:  How are microtubules generated to find kinetochores during cell division?”.  Akanksha is advised by Professors Sabine Petry and Howard StoneAHA Predoctoral Fellowships aim “to provide predoctoral students with individualized, mentored research training to initiate careers in cardiovascular and stroke research, focused on all basic, clinical, and population research broadly related to cardiovascular disease and stroke.”
